‘Ignore Them’ – Franklin Cudjoe Slams GBA for Lack of Credibility Amid CJ Suspension

Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President of IMANI Africa, has criticized the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) over their recent call for President John Dramani Mahama to reverse the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo as per reports from Modern Ghana

Cudjoe expressed his disappointment with the GBA’s lack of serious engagement, claiming that the association has failed to act as a credible voice over the past eight years of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

In a post shared on Facebook on April 28, Cudjoe took aim at the GBA’s silence during critical moments, particularly regarding the exclusion of the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) constituencies from the 2020 parliamentary elections.

He wrote, “The GBA has not been a serious and credible voice these past eight years. I heard no word on the SALL debacle from them. Ignore them!!”

Cudjoe’s comments were echoed by Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South.

In his own post on the same day, Dr. Apaak criticized the GBA as a “seasonal” entity that only speaks out when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.

He emphasized that President Mahama, acting within his constitutional rights, would not be swayed by the GBA’s position.

“If the GBA believes he has broken any laws, the courts are there,” he remarked, suggesting that the issue should be resolved through legal channels.
