ECG blames heavy rainstorm for widespread power outages

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has confirmed that a severe rainstorm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, caused widespread power outages across parts of the country.

In a statement issued on April 26, 2025, and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the company said the storm had disrupted its distribution network, resulting in electricity supply interruptions for many customers.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the heavy rainstorm that hit parts of the country today… has caused some outages within our network,” the statement said.

ECG acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outages and assured the public that its technical teams were working diligently to resolve the faults and restore power.

“Our engineers are working assiduously to repair the faults and restore power supply,” the company said, emphasising its commitment to resolving the issue swiftly.

ECG also apologised for the disruption and thanked customers for their patience.
