We’ll fish out soldier behind Nyinahin killing

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, has vowed to apprehend the military personnel allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of civilians at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region.

The incident, which resulted in the death of one civilian and left three others injured, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.

During a visit to the community on Friday, April 25, DCOP Teye-Cudjoe described the shooting as a criminal act and pledged that the police would ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.

He emphasized that the police would act impartially in their investigation to uphold justice.

The deadly confrontation reportedly occurred between military personnel and a group of mourners. The shooting has intensified concerns about the use of excessive force by uniformed officers.

DCOP Teye-Cudjoe stressed that the actions of an individual soldier should not tarnish the image of the entire Ghana Armed Forces.

He assured the public that the police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and will work to restore public confidence.

“We will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice. Apart from ensuring that justice is served, with the collaboration of the military, we will make sure we bring the culprit to book.

“He is an individual who committed this criminal act, and we will fish him out. We want to assure the people of Nyinahin that we will go all out and make sure that justice is served,” he assured.

The Chief of the area, Nana Amapene Boateng Twum II, appealed to the police to ensure justice is served.

“We are pleading with the police to look into this issue. The culprit must be punished. We are all under the law; no one is above it. Even if there was provocation, you are not supposed to shoot a person. This case is serious, so I am pleading with the police to investigate and bring the culprit to book,” he pleaded.
