Dr. Kofi Asare-Bawuah, medical director of CoxHealth’s pediatric service line, has been honored as one of Springfield Business Journal’s 2025 Men of the Year.

This award recognizes 20 local leaders for their professional accomplishments, as well as their commitment to philanthropy and civic engagement.

At CoxHealth, Dr. Kofi is a respected leader, mentor, and driving force behind the advancement of pediatric care.

Beyond his work with CoxHealth, he is also a passionate advocate for global health, playing a key role in the creation of the REACH Foundation—an organization dedicated to orphan care in Ghana. Through REACH, he has helped lead biannual medical missions and efforts to bring medical expertise and technology to underserved communities.

When asked what advice he would share with other men, Dr. Kofi said, “Be your authentic self. People think you have to assume a persona to do well or be seen as manly. It wears on a lot of men not to show vulnerability.”

In a congratulatory message on Facebook, CoxHealth said: “Dr. Kofi, we’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition and grateful for the impact you make every day for our patients and the communities we serve.”
