Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have resumed emergency services after a high-powered delegation from the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, intervened in the ongoing strike action.
The delegation, led by Zangbalun Lana Dr. Jacob Mahama, engaged members of the Doctors’ Association of Tamale Teaching Hospital (DATTH) with a heartfelt message from the Yaa Naa, urging them to return to their posts and continue saving lives.
Addressing the doctors, the Zangbalun Lana stated:
“We implore you to consider the lives that hang in the balance. The cessation of emergency services has far-reaching consequences, and we fear for the well-being of those who cannot afford to wait.”
He underscored the urgency of restoring critical services and assured the medical professionals of the Yaa Naa’s personal commitment to resolving their grievances.
Less than two hours after the engagement, the hospital announced the resumption of emergency services.
A statement shared on TTH’s official Facebook page confirmed:
“The intervention of the King successfully got the doctors to resume emergency services.”
Outpatient and specialist services, however, remain suspended as further negotiations continue between the hospital management and the doctors.
