Accra, April 25, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a taxi driver, 34, in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old woman.
Police apprehended Robert Kwabena Boamah at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
A press release issued by the Regional Public Relations Officer Godwin Atsu Ahianyo said that on April 21, 2025, police received a distress call from the Tanoso Electoral area in Kwadaso Municipality about a deceased woman found near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex, Dominase.
Officers responded, identified the victim as Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena.
Police discovered multiple stab wounds on her body.
“Preliminary investigations uncovered an abandoned Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 8575-Y, with its ignition key still at the scene,” the release said.
Further investigation revealed the car belonged to Boamah, leading to his arrest.
During questioning, he admitted to the crime.
After his arrest, he appeared weak and confessed to attempting suicide by drinking a bottle of weedicide.
He was treated at Abuakwa Polyclinic and discharged.
Police are preparing to arraign him to face justice.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and will continue to pursue justice for victims of violent crime,” the statement added.
