Nollywood star Bimbo Ademoye has issued a stern warning to Ghanaian television stations accused of illegally streaming her films on YouTube. The actress, visibly furious, said she is ready to pursue legal action against the culprits.
According to YEN, In a video posted on her social media platforms, Bimbo expressed deep frustration over the unauthorized broadcasting of her work, revealing that some local TV stations in Ghana had been airing her content without any license or permission.
“I have been spending money. My family, my father, my nephew, nobody has slept because we’re all working to make sure that this PR is huge,” she lamented. “Then one evil person will wake up and decide to use my property, my intellectual property, because she wants to feed… It is very unfair that we’d work day and night, and one evil demon would come and reap where they didn’t sow. This time, I will not take it.”
Her emotional outburst came just days before the premiere of her latest project *Broken Hallelujah*, which debuted on her YouTube channel on April 18. With nearly a million subscribers, Bimbo’s platform is a key distribution channel for her films.
In a strong appeal for justice, Bimbo even tagged Ghana’s former president in her post: “Can’t remember the name of the TV station in Ghana (if you do, please indicate in the comments). But if I have to tag the office of @officialjdmahama to ensure this stops, I will. Enough is enough.”
The piracy row sparked a wave of reactions online. While some social media users supported the actress, others downplayed the issue or criticized Nollywood’s content quality.
Despite the mixed reactions, Bimbo stands firm in her fight against content theft. She is expected to consult her legal team and push for accountability from the accused platforms.
As piracy continues to plague African creatives, Bimbo Ademoye’s bold stance could mark a new chapter in protecting intellectual property in Nollywood.
