Key NPP Members Who Have Joined Dr. Amoakoh Baah’s New Political Movement

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently facing internal upheaval as political scientist and former party stalwart Dr. Richard Amoako Baah confirms his resignation—and reveals that he is not alone in taking this bold step. In a recent interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Baah disclosed that over 30 influential NPP members have pledged their support to his newly formed political group, the New Patriotic Front.

“Even if someone tried to convince me to abandon the idea, I couldn’t, because this breakaway goes beyond just one individual,” he emphasized.

Dr. Baah noted that the movement is gaining momentum not only within Ghana but also among NPP members abroad, especially in the United States, who have reached out to express their disillusionment with the current state of the party.

His criticisms were blunt and far-reaching. He accused the NPP leadership of ignoring grassroots concerns and concentrating power among a small inner circle. According to him, this refusal to listen to dissenting voices and address internal grievances contributed significantly to the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“Even after the 2024 defeat, the same people still want to maintain control. I’ve reached my limit — I can’t even speak freely anymore,” Dr. Baah added.

This new political front, if sustained, could weaken the NPP’s base and attract disenchanted members who feel neglected and voiceless within the party’s current structure. Dr. Baah’s comments highlight a growing divide between the leadership and the broader membership—a rift that could reshape the country’s political landscape in the months ahead.

The NPP now faces a critical choice: respond to the rising calls for reform or risk further fragmentation that could threaten its political future.
