Accra, April 18, 2025 — The Regional Communications Manager of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) for Accra East, Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, has appealed to residents experiencing water supply disruptions to report directly to the nearest GWL office for timely intervention.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, Barnie emphasized the critical role of community engagement in resolving water challenges, particularly amid ongoing concerns about intermittent water supply in parts of the Greater Accra Region.

“If their water is not flowing, they should do well to approach us… There is always an office nearby,” Barnie noted. “Once a complaint is made, we will follow up and see how we can help restore water supply.”

Dire Water Shortages in Communities Like Nungua

A recent Channel One News report spotlighted worsening water shortages in areas such as Leisure Street in Nungua, where local food vendors and small businesses are increasingly reliant on expensive private water vendors to stay operational.

Residents across the region have expressed growing frustration, citing disruptions to daily routines and rising living costs. The situation has prompted urgent calls for systematic improvements and communication from utility providers.

GWL Ready to Respond to Official Complaints

Barnie assured the public that GWL is prepared to act on officially lodged complaints, urging customers to utilize GWL’s customer service network to facilitate quicker solutions.

“They understand the importance of water in our daily life. Without water, life is impossible,” he added. “We expect that if consumers are not getting water, they will kindly approach us—and we will assist.”
