Tumu, (UWR), April 17, GNA – The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has confirmed Mr Adamu Yakubu, a teacher, as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to steer the affairs of the area.
Mr Yakubu got 30 “Yes” votes out of the 31 Assembly members representing 96.77 per cent while one voted “No”.
Mr Charles Oten Bonsra, the Sissala East Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission declared the results amidst applause from Assembly members and supporters of Mr Yakubu.
Mr Adamu Yakubu, a 45-year-old Social Studies teacher the Tumu Senior High Technical School, expressed appreciation to the assembly members for their overwhelming support.
He pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that development got to every corner of the municipality and emphasized accountability and unity.
He stated that he would prioritize fighting crime and working with all stakeholders to promote development in the area.
Mr Marifa Alhassan Houru, the Assembly Member for the Mwanduanu electoral area, was earlier elected as the Presiding Member of the Assembly.
Mr Charles Lawanga Puoziung, the Upper West Regional Minister, thanked all stakeholders for their support in the election of the Presiding Member.
He urged the Assembly, which he referred to as his second home, to work together in harmony to promote the advancement of the area, noting that the results would facilitate the formation of committees to begin serving the people.
