It Will Be Bloody in This Country If Mahama Arrests Any NPP Member

ACCRA – The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has issued a fiery condemnation of what he describes as a politically motivated and unlawful attempt by National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) operatives to arrest Assin South Member of Parliament, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.

Addressing journalists at the MP’s residence on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, Nana B accused the authorities of abusing state power and flouting constitutional procedures. According to him, the NIB officers arrived without an arrest warrant or proper legal documentation and made no effort to notify or seek clearance from the Speaker of Parliament, as is required by law.

“This disregard for due process and parliamentary immunity is unacceptable,” Nana B stated. “We are law-abiding citizens, but we will not kowtow to state-sponsored arrests. It will be bloody in this country if Mahama arrests any NPP member unjustly.”

His comments come in the wake of Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s recent allegations involving two aircraft allegedly connected to drug trafficking and money laundering. The MP’s claims have stirred national attention, drawing both support and criticism across political divides.

Nana B referenced past cases involving public figures like musician A Plus and Sports Minister Mustapha Yussif, noting that in those instances, authorities followed due process by notifying the Speaker of Parliament before initiating investigations. He urged law enforcement agencies to respect constitutional protocols and avoid actions that could destabilize the political climate.

Legal experts and civil society groups are now calling for an impartial investigation into the attempted arrest and the MP’s allegations. With political temperatures rising, many are urging restraint, dialogue, and strict adherence to Ghana’s democratic principles. As tensions mount, the nation awaits the next move from both the government and the opposition.
