Some gospel artistes focus more on survival than ministry

Entertainment pundit and media personality Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has stated that many gospel artistes in Ghana are more driven by the need to earn a living than by a genuine desire to spread the gospel.

Arnold made these comments while weighing in on the topic of spiritual attacks in the gospel music industry.

“Gospel music, for some, is a facade; they’re only in it because it feeds them, not necessarily to spread the gospel,” he stated on United Showbiz on April 12, 2025.

He pointed out that while many people assume gospel musicians are shielded from spiritual attacks due to their association with faith, the reality is quite the opposite.

“People don’t expect spiritual attacks in gospel music because it’s about God, but we forget these artistes are also vulnerable to emotions, temptations, and external influences,” he stated.

He also claimed that some preachers and gospel artistes have “backing from elsewhere”, implying possible spiritual or ulterior influences behind their work.

“So, hearing that spiritual attacks also happen in the gospel music industry is not surprising. They are also humans. There are many people singing gospel music or preaching in churches who have backing from somewhere else,” he said.
