I do not need any invitation to come to Burkina Faso, I can come any time I like

During a recent visit to Burkina Faso, President John Dramani Mahama stated that he does not need an official invitation to visit the country, as he considers Ghana and Burkina Faso to be closely connected.

In his words:

“Let me tell you something—Burkina Faso and Ghana are like one, so I don’t need a special reason to come here; I can visit whenever I wish. But according to African tradition, when your brother does something kind for you, it’s only right to return the gesture with gratitude. After the elections in Ghana, when I was elected president, I invited my brother to attend my inauguration. Despite his busy schedule, he made time to be there, and I truly appreciated that—it was a sign of respect. And as the saying goes, Respect is mutual.”

He added, “Before he left Ghana, I told him I would visit Burkina Faso to personally thank him—and that’s why I’m here. I came to express my gratitude. We’ve had meaningful conversations on issues of shared interest and explored ways Ghana and Burkina Faso can collaborate for the benefit of both nations. I believe the discussions have been productive and will yield positive outcomes.”
