Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has charged the new Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, to tackle pressing issues hindering the city’s development.
According to a Citi FM post on X, on April 10, 2025, Dr Amoakohehe said that the city’s growing population and traffic congestion, which is partly attributed to the Kejetia Market’s expansion under the previous administration, must be solved.
“Challenges at the market, which, despite being constructed to ease congestion, have instead contributed to the issue and must effectively be addressed,” he indicated.
To effectively address these challenges, Dr Amoakohene called for collaboration between the Regional Coordinating Council and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to work hand in hand in order to achieve desired results.
He also stated that enhancing waste management and overall cleanliness in Kumasi will create a healthier environment for residents.
Following President John Dramani Mahama’s nomination, Boadi’s recent victory comes after a decisive vote by assembly members within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
He secured 55 votes out of the 56 votes cast, confirming his victory.
Boadi previously served as the Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of Obuasi under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
