The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man identified in a viral video assaulting another individual with a machete near a fuel tanker.
The suspect, Dawuda Sumaila, a driver’s mate, was apprehended on April 9, 2025, through an intelligence-led operation, according to a police statement released on Thursday, April 10.
Sumaila is accused of violently attacking a young man with a machete in a disturbing incident that occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region.
The video of the assault has since circulated widely on social media, sparking public outrage.
He is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations into the incident.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the matter is being treated with urgency and that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
