Suzzy Pinamang, a student of Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, who was shot in the face by a fellow student in the classroom has lost her sight and is now unable to see.
On April 4, 2025, a heartbreaking incident took place at Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Kumasi, involving two second-year students, Bernard Amoabeng and Suzzy Pinamang. Reports indicate that Bernard brought a locally made pistol, allegedly belonging to his father, to school without consent. While in the classroom, he attempted to show the weapon to a fellow student, Samuel Manu.
In a moment of panic, Samuel tried to move the gun away, which led to an unintentional discharge. The bullet struck Suzzy Pinamang in the face, resulting in serious injuries.Suzzy was immediately taken to Kwadaso SDA Hospital and later referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for advanced treatment. Recent updates indicate that she has unfortunately lost her sight as a result of the injury.
She has been discharged from the hospital and is currently at home with her family. However, several bullets remain lodged in her face and are yet to be removed.
The police have taken Bernard Amoabeng into custody and retrieved the firearm used in the incident. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts to locate and question Bernard’s father regarding the unauthorized access to the weapon.
The family is appealing to Ghanaians for financial support to help cover the cost of further medical procedures to improve her condition, as she is currently in severe pain.
This incident has sparked discussions about school safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent weapons from being brought onto school premises.
