Relieved Raphinha admits he apologized to Pau Cubarsi after Barcelona opener against Dortmund

Raphinha was quick to reveal he apologised to Pau Cubarsi after Barcelona’s win over Dortmund in the Champions League.

Cubarsi thought he’d scored the opening goal after flicking home a header from Inigo Martinez, but Raphinha just got a touch before it crossed the line.

Barca then had to endure a nervous wait for an offside check before the goal was eventually given, leaving Raphinha a relieved man.

“I was worried about the play leading to the first goal, that I might be offside. The good thing is that it was valid,” he told the media.

“I touched the ball before the line and apologized to Cubarsí, and he told me it was fine, that it would count as an assist. I thought the ball could have gone out; it’s a quick decision.”

Raphinha went on to play a starring role alongside Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski and spoke about this Barcelona team-mates.

“I love playing with high-level players. We know each other very well, and that’s important. We’re putting up spectacular numbers, and I hope we continue to do so,” he added.

“I’m not going to admit we’re in the semifinals. There’s another game, and playing there is always difficult. They’re a team with a lot of quality. We got a good result and we have to continue like this, and we have to play a good game next week.”

Barcelona’s four-goal win puts Hansi Flick’s side in pole position in the tie ahead of the return next week in Germany.
