Akufo-Addo, Henry Quartey, Adwoa Safo, Prof Mike and Ocquaye Jnr
Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, recently embarked on a media tour during which she expressed criticisms against some key figures within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection claims she harbors deep resentment against individuals she accuses of sabotage, betrayal, and undermining both her political career and her family’s business interests.
1.President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
Adwoa Safo alleged that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo instructed her to audit the School Feeding Programme shortly after her appointment as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, even before her ministry had received funding.
“Former President Akufo-Addo asked me to audit the School Feeding Programme after my appointment, even before I had funds to work. He wanted to understand how the funds were utilized,” she said in an interview on Movement Radio.
According to her, during the audit, she invited one of the key figures involved in the programme several times, but the individual refused to appear. Instead, she received a message questioning her motives and accusing her of trying to destroy relationships within the government.
Despite the resistance, Adwoa Safo proceeded with the audit and submitted her findings to the Cabinet.
She stated that the most significant corruption was uncovered in the Central Region. However, after the report generated public backlash, President Akufo-Addo reportedly distanced himself from the initiative.
“After the backlash, President Akufo-Addo said he was not the one who directed me to conduct the audit and even suggested I shelve it. That is where my problems began,” she revealed.
Adwoa Safo also accused Akufo-Addo of standing by while her father’s bus terminal was demolished.
2.Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye
Adwoa Safo has issued a stern rebuke to former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye who is the chairman of a committee investigating possible reasons why the NPP lost the 2024 elections, demanding that he first explain the electoral defeat of his son, Mike Oquaye Jnr., in the Dome/Kwabenya constituency before making broader pronouncements on the NPP’s electoral performance.
Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the seat with 50,967 votes against Mike Oquaye Jnr.’s 50,669.
“Charity begins at home, so Prof. Oquaye must first be able to tell the NPP why his son lost the seat to the NDC before touching on other issues,” she stated in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.
She accused Prof. Oquaye of leading a biased Election Review Committee aimed at pushing certain candidates out of the party while favouring others.
“A very bogus committee, a committee intentionally formed to find certain facts and push certain candidates out so others can be favoured. Do you call that a credible fact-finding committee?”
She continued, “If Prof. Mike Oquaye thinks he has integrity, let him include in his report why his son lost the Dome/Kwabenya seat. If he can do that with transparency and fairness, then I will accept the report’s findings.”
3. Mike Oquaye Jnr
Adwoa Safo has also accused Mike Oquaye Jnr of insulting her father, Apostle Kojo Safo Kantanka.
She alleged that during his campaign, Mike Oquaye Jnr told constituents that her father was an uneducated bush farmer and urged them to vote for his own father, a professor.
“He never came to my father’s church. I have video evidence showing him telling people that my father is an uneducated farmer in the bush, so they should support his father, a professor,” she said on Movement TV.
Mike Oquaye Jnr has since denied the allegations.
4.Henry Quartey
Adwoa Safo has accused the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, of supervising the demolition of her father’s transport terminal without any notice.
According to her, the Imperial Express transport terminal, located where the ICGC church now stands at Agbogbloshie, was thriving before it was razed.
“In my own government, I called the regional minister, and he told me it was an order from above. They destroyed my father’s business without any notice. I am not afraid to say it was Henry Quartey,” she disclosed during an interview on Okay FM on March 24, 2025.
5.The late Gertrude Essie Quashigah
Adwoa Safo also accused the late Gertrude Essie Quashigah, former National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, of attempting to involve her in corrupt practices.
She claimed the late Quashigah suggested that they collude to inflate figures in the school feeding programme for personal enrichment.
