Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has expressed both shock and dismay over the alarming disappearance of over 1,300 ECG containers at the Tema Port, a situation that has left many questioning the transparency and effectiveness of the investigations surrounding the incident.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, April 3, Mahama expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the process, stating that he was not only shocked by the scale of the container disappearance but also saddened by the manner in which the investigative committee handled the situation.
Dubik Mahama, who had previously held the highest office at ECG, explained that he had not been given an opportunity to engage with the investigative committee, despite the fact that the report into the incident prominently referenced his name.
“I am scandalised and sad because for a report that has my name in it, the nice and decency of this whole thing should have been that I should be given an opportunity to speak to this committee. It has made it very difficult for me to catch up with the story.”
The committee set up to investigate the matter had been expected to address several key questions, including how the containers were lost, who was responsible for their disappearance, and what actions were being taken to recover the missing items.
