Sam George Makes Another Bold Move; Sacks All NCA Regional Managers Appointed Under Akufo-Addo

Samuel Nartey George, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, has reportedly relieved all Regional Managers of the National Communications Authority (NCA) who were appointed under the previous Akufo-Addo government.
A termination letter sent to the Senior Manager of the NCA’s Koforidua office confirmed the move, stating that it was carried out on the minister’s orders. The letter, signed by Alexander Yaw Arphul, the Chief Director of the ministry, instructed the affected officials to hand over their duties to the Acting Director General of the NCA.
Though the letter expressed gratitude for their service, it did not outline specific reasons for the dismissals. However, reports suggest that the decision is part of a broader restructuring effort within the ministry.
The mass dismissals have sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning their impact on the NCA’s regional operations. While some argue that this is a routine change following a shift in government, others worry that it could affect regulatory continuity.
It is uncertain whether new appointments will be made immediately, and the affected managers have not yet issued a public statement.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned that it will respond in kind when it regains power. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has declared that the next NPP administration will be swift in dismissing NDC appointees as a form of political payback.
