Muntaka advises Muslims against violence, calls for national unity

Interior Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has urged Muslims, particularly the youth, to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with modesty and avoid actions that could disrupt the nation’s peace.

He emphasized the need for reflection on the spiritual essence of Ramadan, encouraging Muslims to uphold the values of self-discipline and devotion beyond the fasting period.

“Our youth, I want to remind you that Eid is an opportunity for us to reflect on the 29 days of fasting. The fasting that we have made so much sacrifice. We’ve denied ourselves food, we’ve denied ourselves a lot of comfort, we’ve given out a lot of alms, we’ve supported the needy, and we’ve done a lot to support our communities. Let’s not take all these deeds and throw them into the dust bin just because of the Eid day celebration.

“Let’s remember in our celebration we need to be modest. In modesty, we should also remember that we have neighbours who are not necessarily Muslims. And in our festive mood, let’s make sure we don’t disturb the peace of our neighbours,” he advised.

The Minister also appealed to communities experiencing conflicts to set aside their differences and embrace peace, stressing that national unity is crucial for progress.

Delivering his Eid-ul-Fitr message, the Asawase MP urged Muslims to foster peaceful coexistence with their neighbors, regardless of religious differences.

Additionally, he called on the Muslim community and Ghanaians at large to support and pray for President John Dramani Mahama and his government as they work to fulfill their promises to the nation.
