Sports minister Kofi Adams names reasons why Ghana beat Chad and Madagascar

Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has praised the strong collaboration between the government and the Black Stars, highlighting its role in the team’s recent success.

Breaking a six-game winless streak in emphatic fashion, Ghana’s senior national team delivered a resounding 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by a commanding 3-0 win against Madagascar in the Matchday 5 and 6 fixtures of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

In a post-match interview, Minister Adams attributed the team’s resurgence to effective leadership at multiple levels, from the government to the technical staff.

“The technical team, the playing squad, and the government all showed strong leadership. The players were made to believe in their abilities, and with the right tactics from the coaching staff, the results speak for themselves,” he told Asempa FM.

With these two victories, the Black Stars now lead Group I with 15 points. The squad is scheduled to reconvene in June for a four-nation tournament in England before continuing their qualification campaign with crucial matches against Chad and Mali in Matchday 6 and 7.
