During a heated parliamentary session, a Member of Parliament (MP) defended Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging fellow MPs to respect leadership and avoid making unfair accusations against him.
The MP explained that Afenyo-Markin had not opposed the bill being discussed. He said, “If the Minority Leader had openly declared that he would block this bill, then you would have a reason to complain. But since he has not said that, we should not accuse him unfairly.”
Speaking directly to another MP named Amed, the speaker warned against treating Afenyo-Markin unjustly. He added, “If someone treated you this way, Amed, you would not be happy. So do not do the same to Afenyo-Markin. It is unfair, and this is not something we should allow in this house going forward.”
The call for fairness and respect for parliamentary leadership reflected ongoing tensions in the chamber. Debates over legislative decisions have continued to cause disagreements among MPs.
A video showing this moment in parliament has since appeared online, drawing attention to the heated exchange and the plea for respectful conduct in the house.
