US conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel haven’t been in the spotlight as much as they used to be, so we have a look at what the sisters have been up to of late
Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel have spent much of their lives in the public eye.
Born in 1990, the dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins made an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show at six and later landed their own TLC reality series called Abby & Brittany. It aired in 2012 and the girls were an instant hit with viewers who were keen to know more about their lives.
However, in recent years, Abby and Brittany – who share a torso and several organs – have stepped outside the spotlight. The pair are now teachers, living their own lives in Minnesota. But every now and then a story surfaces, such as news that one of them had got married and rumours of a pregnancy.
We have a look at their lives now.
Secret wedding

In 2006, Brittany said in the show Joined For Life: Abby & Brittany Turn 16: “The whole world doesn’t need to know who we’re dating or what we’re gonna do and everything.”
And it seems they stuck to that, as Abby managed to get married without the world knowing about it. In 2024 it emerged that she had secretly tied the knot three years earlier.
Today reported that public records showed that she had walked down the aisle with US Army veteran and registered nurse Josh Bowling. Snippets from the big day later emerged on social media, showing Abby looking radiant as she snuggled up to her new husband in a custom made white dress.
There was also a TikTok of the first dance, which showed the twins on the dancefloor, swaying from side to side with their arms around Josh.
Veteran husband
Josh was born in Tennessee but now lives in Minnesota where the twins work as teachers. A decorated veteran, he works in healthcare.
While a lot of fans have questions about how the marriage works, the trio have continued to keep a low profile. However, they do share the odd snap on TikTok showing them all together. Some show then enjoying days out together, and in others the three are seen with Josh’s daughter from a previous relationship.
In September 2024, Josh uploaded a rare photo to Facebook of all three of them together. Taken at night in the snow, it showed them wrapped up warm against the cold and Josh made it his profile picture.
Baby rumours
In December last year pregnancy rumours swirled after the twins shared a rather cryptic TikTok. Abby and Brittany, 35, uploaded a short video sharing a series of headlines identified as “breaking news”.
Each headline read something different, but they were all about the sisters. “This is so tragic,” said one, while another asked: “What if one of them dies?”
But the one that caught people’s eye read “Married and baby on the way.” It sparked speculation that the twins were expecting and that this was their way of sharing the news. However, neither clarified what the video meant or whether they were pregnant and there has been no update since.
