Most items NPP shared during 2024 elections were from confiscated containers- Hopeson Adorye alleges

Hopeson Adorye, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has made staggering allegations against the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, most of the items the New Patriotic Party were sharing during the campaign activities for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections were from confiscated containers at the Tema Port.

Hopeson Adorye, who was a key member of the Nana Akufo Addo campaign team for the 2016 and 2020 general elections, accused the leading opposition party of using items from confiscated containers to woo electorates in the immediate past general elections.

“Most of the items NPP was sharing in the 2024 campaign were confiscated containers at Tema Port. Fact,” he posted on his Facebook page.

His allegations come after the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, revealed that 40 of the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers have been traced to a warehouse owned by an Indian national at Kpone, near Tema.

According to the Minister, the warehouse owner claimed that the containers were sold to him last year. However, he stressed that the matter is under investigation, and the law enforcement agencies will ensure that justice is served.

He assured the public that security agencies are actively pursuing leads to retrieve all the missing containers and bring those responsible to justice.

Hopeson Adorye has firmly claimed that previous government appointees are behind the mysterious missing ECG containers. He called on the Minister to conduct thorough investigations to apprehend those behind this unlawful action.
