If You Stay In These Areas, Expect Heavy Rains And Thunderstorms From 27-28 March

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a mix of cloudy conditions, scattered thunderstorms, and sunny periods across the country from Thursday, March 27, through Friday, March 28. Residents are advised to stay vigilant, as the weather may change unexpectedly.

According to GMet, coastal areas and some inland locations will experience cloudy conditions with scattered thunderstorms, some of which may bring rainfall. On the morning of Thursday, March 27, mist is expected along the coast, followed by sunny spells. However, by the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms could develop in various areas. In the middle belt and transition zones, cloudy skies will dominate overnight, with thunderstorms expected in different locations. Morning mist will clear for sunshine, but localized thunderstorms remain a possibility in the latter part of the day. Northern Ghana, meanwhile, will experience mainly sunny conditions, though some areas may still see isolated thunderstorms.

Areas with a 40% probability of heavy rains and thunderstorms in the evening include Cape Coast, Takoradi, Ho, Axim, Koforidua, Kumasi, Akim Oda, Obuasi, Sekondi, Tarkwa, and Sefwi Bekwai. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions against potential flooding and strong winds.

On Friday, March 28, similar weather patterns will persist. Misty conditions are expected in the early hours, giving way to sunshine. However, thunderstorms are likely to develop, especially in the middle and northern regions. The northern parts of Ghana are forecast to experience higher temperatures, with generally clear skies during the day, though sporadic thunderstorms remain possible in the evening.

GMet has urged the public, particularly those in regions prone to heavy rainfall and strong winds, to remain alert and take necessary safety measures. Travelers should also be prepared for sudden weather changes and plan accordingly.
