Veteran journalist Mr. Kwesi Pratt has shared a surprising encounter he had in the office of a Ghanaian government minister. During his appearance on the Alhaji and Alhaji show, he criticized the inefficiency of some ministers, arguing that many fail to contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress and instead misuse public resources.
Pratt also called on John Dramani Mahama to restrict the number of ministers to a maximum of 60, a proposal he has advocated for in the past. Recalling his experience, he stated that he had gone to a minister’s office around midday, only for the secretary to inform him that the minister was unavailable. After waiting for a while with no success, he eventually left. However, he later found out that at 12:30 PM, instead of attending to official duties, the minister was holding a social gathering in the office with friends and relatives.
“I went to meet a minister at noon, but his secretary told me he was busy. After waiting for a long time, I decided to leave and later tried to book another appointment. To my surprise, I learned that at 12:30 PM, they were having a party in the office. This raises serious concerns because it shows that some ministers are not focused on their responsibilities. That is why I strongly believe John Dramani Mahama should cap the number of ministers at 60,” Mr. Pratt remarked.
