Alan Kyerematen’s office has strongly denied recent social media claims that he was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama as the Acting Director of a new economic project. The Movement for Change leader’s team dismissed the reports as false and malicious, stating that they were designed to mislead the public.
Kwame Owusu Danso, Esq., Special Advisor on Communications to Kyerematen, released a statement condemning the letter circulating online. He described it as a “fabrication” intended to spread misinformation. The letter falsely alleged that Kyerematen had been chosen to form a board and secretariat to manage Ghana’s economy—one of the key proposals in the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2024 manifesto. However, Kyerematen’s office firmly denied any involvement.
“We completely reject these unfounded claims. This deliberate spread of falsehoods will not go unchallenged,” the statement asserted, urging the public to disregard the document. It also called on Ghanaians to verify information from credible sources before believing or sharing it.
The false letter implied that Kyerematen’s appointment was part of President Mahama’s broader strategy to build an inclusive government and revitalize Ghana’s economy. However, Kyerematen’s office strongly refuted any suggestion that he had been given such a role.
Additionally, the letter attempted to link Kyerematen’s alleged appointment to his recent meeting with President Mahama following Mahama’s re-election. While Kyerematen did talk about his Great Transformational Agenda, his team said that the meeting had nothing to do with an appointment. Ghanaians were advised to pay attention to official announcements rather than false reports that could create unnecessary confusion. Kyerematen’s office reiterated the importance of fact-checking news before accepting or sharing it, emphasizing the need for public vigilance in combating misinformation.
