Stop talking; if not for the NPP, nobody would have known you — Ayisi-Boateng fires Adwoa Safo

According to GhanaWeb, Dr. George Ayisi-Boateng, a prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Ghanaian Ambassador to South Africa, has called on former Dome/Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to refrain from publicly discussing internal party affairs.

In recent days, Adwoa Safo has been actively engaging with various media houses, expressing her grievances over what she describes as prolonged unfair treatment by the party.

This comes despite her earlier apology to both the NPP and her constituents following a lengthy absence from parliamentary duties due to personal and family-related matters.

During her media appearances, she has openly criticized some senior party members, including former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye.

Her public remarks have raised concerns within the NPP, prompting the party to caution its members against making statements that could fuel internal discord.

Addressing the issue, Dr. Ayisi-Boateng advised Adwoa Safo, who previously served as a Minister and Deputy Majority Leader, to comply with the party’s guidance and refrain from granting further interviews for her own benefit.

He emphasized that she should acknowledge the role the NPP played in shaping her political career and public recognition in Ghana.

He further stated that, despite her background as the daughter of renowned inventor Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Safo, it was the NPP that elevated her political status.

“Adwoa Safo should stop talking. I reiterate that had it not been for the NPP, she wouldn’t have been known, despite her father’s status and influence. The NPP has made her who she is. I, Ayisi-Boateng, am known by many people because of the NPP. Hence, I am proud to be a member of the NPP,” Dr. Ayisi-Boateng stated.

Using himself as an example, he stressed that his own recognition was largely due to his affiliation with the party, which he remains proud of.

Meanwhile, the NPP has taken disciplinary action by referring Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee over her recent remarks regarding the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.

This follows an earlier directive from the party leadership cautioning members against public statements that could deepen divisions.

In a statement issued on March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong expressed concern over her comments, describing them as a violation of party directives.

The statement emphasized that party members were expected to avoid public discussions that could incite unrest or foster negativity.

It further noted that, as a former lawmaker, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, Adwoa Safo was expected to uphold party discipline and unity.

The NPP maintains that her actions go against the principles outlined in its constitution, which demand loyalty and commitment to preserving party cohesion.
