Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo is confident that Ghana’s dominant 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will provide the team with a much-needed confidence boost for upcoming matches.
The Black Stars had struggled to find the back of the net, managing just three goals across their previous six matches—a poor run that ultimately cost them a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Semenyo believes the team is filled with ‘natural goal scorers’ while indicating the significance of putting five past Chad.
“I believe we have natural goal scorers in the squad. It’s just about getting into the right positions, and we did that today. Scoring five goals is a big confidence booster,” Semenyo shared after the match.
The Black Stars asserted their dominance, with Semenyo scoring the opener in the second minute. Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah also added one each for the commanding display.
With this victory, Ghana now leads Group I in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Otto Addo’s team will now turn their attention to a crucial fixture against Madagascar on Monday, aiming to carry forward this momentum.
