A security expert, Anthony Acquaye, has dismissed allegations that the Acting Chief of Air Staff, Air Commodore Agyen-Frempong, publicly campaigned against President John Dramani Mahama.
In a statement issued on Thursday, March 20, 2025, he described the claims as untrue, noting that there is no substantial evidence to back it.
“The alleged fierce resistance from some unidentified individuals, claiming to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party foot soldiers and executives, regarding the appointment of Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong as Acting Chief of Air Staff is both deeply unfortunate and regrettable. These allegations suggest that he openly campaigned against John Dramani Mahama in the past, yet such claims remain unsupported by any substantial evidence,” he noted.
He further indicated that the Acting Chief of Air Staff has exhibited professionalism and a strong sense of duty throughout his career.
“He has consistently demonstrated a remarkable willingness to serve, going above and beyond the call of duty for both his colleagues officers, soldiers, civilian defense staff, and the nation at large. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Air Commodore Agyen-Frempong is known for his kindness, humility, and genuine concern for others, which I can attest to as a senior defense civilian officer of the Armed Forces.
“These personal qualities have only added to the deep respect he commands within the Armed Forces and beyond. It is unfortunate that his reputation and service to the country are now being called into question by baseless claims,” it added.

The alleged fierce resistance from some unidentified individuals, claiming to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party footsoldiers and executives, regarding the appointment of Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong as Acting Chief of Air Staff is both deeply unfortunate and regrettable.
