VIDEO: Black Stars train with 9 players ahead of 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad

The Black Stars have commenced preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, with only nine players reporting for the first training session.

Among the early arrivals were three goalkeepers – Benjamin Asare (Accra Hearts of Oak), Lawrence Ati-Zigi (St. Gallen), and Joseph Wollacott (Crawley Town). The defenders present included Kamaradini Mamoud (Medeama SC), Mohammed Salisu (AS Monaco), Gideon Mensah (Auxerre), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC). The attacking players in training were Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton FC) and Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth).

The low turnout was expected, as several foreign-based players are yet to arrive. So far, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Jerry Afriyie and Lawrence Agyekeum are the latest arrivals and will join the team’s second training on Tuesday.

The rest of the squad is expected to join in the coming days ahead of the game on Friday.

Ghana will host Chad in Accra on March 21 before visiting Morocco to face Madagascar on March 21 to wrap up the international break in March.
