Transform Ghana’s prisons, you have my support

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly appointed Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, to lead the transformation of the nation’s prisons into reformation centers rather than mere detention facilities.

Speaking at her swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Monday, March 17, 2025, President Mahama underscored the vital role of the Prison Service in rehabilitating offenders and upholding justice.

He assured Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie of his administration’s full support in achieving this goal.

“The responsibility falls on you, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie, to lead the charge in transforming our prisons into true centres of reformation and not just a place for incarceration. You have my full support in this mission,” he stated.

President Mahama expressed confidence in her leadership, emphasizing the need for meaningful reforms to improve prison conditions and operations across the country.
