Revealed; Angel FM CEO Has Disclosed Amount of Cash Kofi Adomah Spent On His Eye Surgery

The CEO of Angel FM, Vincent Opare, has revealed that Dr. Kwaku Oteng and the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) have spent about GH¢750,000 to support journalist Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii’s medical treatment.

The journalist suffered a severe eye injury during an assignment at the Dormaa Kwafie Festival.

“Kofi’s situation was serious. He was accidentally hit in the face by a musket shot, which damaged his eyes badly,” Opare explained.

“At first, we gave GH¢110,000 for his hospital treatment. Later, Dr. Oteng and ABN contributed $40,000, which is around GH¢640,000, for his surgery.”

The incident happened when Kofi Adomah was covering the festival.

Traditional celebrations often involve the firing of muskets, and unfortunately, one of them caused his injury.

The journalist required multiple surgeries to save his eyesight.

However, despite the large financial contribution, there has been public debate over a fundraising effort to collect more money for Kofi’s treatment.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to raise €50,000, leading some people to question why more funds were needed.

“People are wondering why we should still donate,” one social media user wrote.

“GH¢750,000 has already been spent. Are we the ones responsible for his eye injury?”

In response, media personality Nana Yaa Brefo defended the fundraising campaign.

She urged Dr. Oteng and the Dormaahene, the traditional leader of the area where the accident happened, to provide more support.

“I am calling on Dr. Kwaku Oteng and the Dormaahene,” Nana Yaa Brefo said. “Kofi has worked hard for Angel FM.

He was injured while doing his job. Should he struggle to pay for his medical bills alone?”

She also emphasized that medical costs can be overwhelming, and even though Angel FM has contributed significantly, Kofi still needs more help.

“The truth is, medical treatment is expensive,” she added. “We can’t assume that what has been given is enough. If people want to help, they should.”

Kofi Adomah is still receiving treatment, and his recovery journey is ongoing.
