Military officer reportedly killed in Bawku

A military officer has been reportedly shot to death by unidentified gunmen in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

The soldier from the 11 Mechanised Battalion, is said to have left his position not wearing his uniform and went to another place where he was attacked and shot by the gunmen.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the incident happened around the Kpalore-Avengo area of Bawku township on Monday, 17th March 2025.

Following the conflict’s resurgence in October 2024, many Bawku residents have been living in self-isolation.

Women and children have been among the approximately 75 persons slain since the war resurfaced.
