A retired Commissioner of Police (COP), George Alex Mensah, has expressed his full confidence and trust in COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the new Inspector General of Police’s leadership skills to efficiently lead the police administration.
He said he believes the recently appointed IGP would deliver and improve the Ghana Police Service and help improve other security services in the country at large.
“If he leads the police the way I know him to, then I will not be disappointed, and the officers will be happy,” he said.
According to him, the new IGP is a skilled, realistic police officer who knows his job, is a good listener and a goal getter adding that.
“He is not a dictator, he accepts advice, always willing to listen his people and new ideas,” he added.
COP Mensah made this known in an interview on Adom TV, and monitored by GhanaWeb, to share his thoughts and views on the new IGP.
He emphasised the significance of good and competent leadership, saying that “policing is not on social media, but an underground work,” urging COP Yohuno to remain focused on the job and deliver.
“I trust him, and I know he will deliver,” he added.
President John Dramani Mahama appointed COP Yohuno as the new IGP through a statement signed on his behalf by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in accordance with the constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.
“President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, appointed Commissioner of Police (COP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as the Inspector General of Police,” it stated.
He replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
COP Yohuno, according to the statement, brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernisation and transformation of the Ghana Police Service.
