Ghana’s trade minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare visits Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd Company

On the morning of February 26, 2025, Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, led a high-level delegation to Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd Company, a leading manufacturer of baby and feminine hygiene products.

The visit formed part of the Minister’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with local manufacturers, assess their operational capabilities, and express the government’s unwavering commitment to promoting excellence in Ghana’s manufacturing sector.

During the visit to Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd Company’s production facility, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended the company for its adherence to high quality production standards, its contribution to local employment, and its focus on producing essential hygiene products tailored to the needs of Ghanaian families.

She highlighted the importance of local companies like Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd in achieving the government’s vision of industrial self-sufficiency, import substitution, and enhanced export competitiveness under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Minister emphasized that the government’s newly introduced 24-Hour Economy policy offers a transformative opportunity for local industries to scale up production, create more jobs, and position Ghana as a key manufacturing hub in the region.

She encouraged Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd to fully embrace this policy by optimizing production schedules, investing in technological innovation, and enhancing operational efficiency, all of which will help the company meet the growing demand for affordable, high-quality diapers and sanitary products.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare reiterated that under the 24-Hour Economy initiative, the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for local manufacturers by improving infrastructure, enhancing regulatory efficiency, and addressing challenges such as the influx of counterfeit and substandard products.

By fostering a competitive and innovation-driven manufacturing sector, Ghana can reduce its reliance on imports, enhance value addition to local raw materials, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

The representatives of Softcare welcomed the Minister’s visit and expressed the company’s full support for the 24-Hour Economy policy.

He pledged that Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd will leverage this policy to expand production capacity, improve product quality, and ensure that every Ghanaian family has access to safe, affordable hygiene products manufactured locally.

The visit concluded with Hon. Ofosu-Adjare reaffirming her Ministry’s commitment to supporting leading local manufacturers like Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd, recognizing their crucial role in advancing Ghana’s industrial agenda, promoting economic growth, and enhancing the welfare of Ghanaian citizens.
