Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze has called for a probe into the Ghana Gas funded resettlement project initiated by the previous government for the victims of flood prone areas in the Volta Region.
His demand comes amid rising concerns over the devastating effects of tidal waves in low-lying areas.
In an exclusive interview on Channel One Newsroom on Wednesday, March 12, the Central Tongu lawmaker asserted that the previous government commenced only 10 of the 100 intended houses.
He, however, contests that the 10 buildings that were started are still not completed.
Hottordze raised questions about the allocation of funds earmarked for the project, demanding accountability for the project’s finances.
“This Ghana Gas project came in, they wanted to build 100 two-bedroom houses for the people. According to them, they were going to complete that project by December 2024, but as we speak, the 10 they had begun has not been completed.
“That particular Ghana Gas project, I am calling for a probe into it because the way it was carried out is too suspicious because they started with only 10. They couldn’t even finish the 10. So the money voted for that project, where did it go?” he questioned.
