Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Managing Director of the Ghana Minerals Commission, has expressed confidence that Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, will be remembered as the best Finance Minister in Ghana’s history.
Gyamfi pointed out that within just two months of Ato Forson’s appointment, he managed to reduce the treasury bill rate from 28% to 20%, a feat never seen before. He emphasized that Forson’s achievements reflect his exceptional management skills and his potential to bring significant change to the country.
“Let me congratulate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. He is the minister I’m currently working with, and he will go down as the best Finance Minister in Ghana’s history. In less than two months in office, he has already reduced the treasury bill rate from 28% to 20%, an unprecedented achievement. This is a difficult and risky move, and what he is doing is beyond comprehension,” Gyamfi said.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a Ghanaian politician and economist, has been serving as Finance Minister since January 22, 2025. During his short time in office, he has launched the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), an initiative designed to regulate gold purchases from small-scale miners, increase national revenue, and combat smuggling. GoldBod will serve as the sole buyer of gold, ensuring better oversight and maximizing the country’s benefits from the gold industry.
In addition, Dr. Forson’s efforts to reduce the treasury bill rate have been widely praised as an unprecedented achievement in Ghana’s financial history.
