Controversial U.S. based Ghanaian political commentator, Twene Jonas, has declared President John Dramani Mahama the ‘Kwame Nrkrumah of our time’ for reducing the tax burden on Ghanaians.
Speaking following the presentation of the 2025 budget and financial statement before Parliament, Jonas said the government abolishing the e-levy, betting tax and COVID levy is great news for Ghanaians.
According to him, the purpose of a government is to solve the problems of a population and not to rather saddle them with too much problems.
He slammed the previous NPP government for being wicked towards Ghanaians who were already suffering by imposing so many taxes on them. He said the worst part of it all is that the taxes were not used for the right reasons, but were wasted by the government.
Jonas praised Mahama for promising to abolish these taxes and doing so in such a short period, adding that just by reducing the suffering of Ghanaians, he has proven himself to be the Kwame Nkrumah of our time.
