NDC should not repeat our mistakes

The Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has urged the government to avoid blame games and focus on fulfilling its mandate to Ghanaians.

Speaking in a recent interview on GH One TV on Tuesday, he noted that President John Dramani Mahama’s recent State of the Nation Address contained too many lamentations.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah acknowledged that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government spent too much time blaming former President John Dramani Mahama for the country’s challenges rather than prioritizing governance.

“Two-thirds of the recent State of the Nation Address was about lamentations. All of that was factored into the 2024 election. And that’s why we were voted out of power. The Ghanaian people felt that what we had done did not meet their expectations, so they voted us out.

“Even President Mahama himself acknowledged that he did not want to lament, yet two-thirds of his address focused on the challenges he had inherited,” he noted.

The former Information Minister urged the government to prioritize fulfilling its campaign promises, emphasizing that the NDC was elected to address the issues confronting Ghanaians.

“A day will come for us to compare our record to President Mahama’s. But that day is not today. Today is an opportunity for the government to focus on the reasons Ghanaians voted the Mahama administration into power and what they expect it to address.

“And so, as a Minority, we want to encourage the government: do not repeat our mistakes. Focus on implementing your governance programs now, and let us assist you in delivering. For now, the propaganda must end—it is time to work,” he added.
