A 25-year-old mobile money vendor known as Junior was found murdered in his room at the Kwadaso Onion Market in Kumasi. His assailants brutally killed him by slitting his throat with a weapon suspected to be a cutlass or a similar sharp object. They also tied his hands and legs to the bed and sealed his mouth with duct tape.

The tragic incident, believed to have occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025, has sent shockwaves through the community. Nearby residents alerted the police after noticing a foul odour and a large number of houseflies coming from his room. Although the murder is believed to have taken place on Saturday, his body was only discovered on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Junior, a native of Ejisu Onwe, was described by colleagues and friends as a diligent and hardworking individual who operated his business near the Kumasi Race Course.

According to an eyewitness, Junior returned home on Saturday with a significant amount of money. Following the discovery of his body, it was determined that an unspecified amount of money, mobile phones, and other valuables were missing from his room. Investigators suspect robbery as the motive behind the crime.

Police have launched an investigation into Junior’s murder, but no arrests have been made so far.

The community is deeply saddened by the loss of Junior, and his family and friends are mourning his untimely death.

Junior’s murder highlights the vulnerabilities faced by mobile money vendors, who often handle large sums of cash and are at high risk of robbery and violence. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety and security of market traders and vendors in the area.

As the police investigation continues, the community is demanding justice and calling for an end to the violence that has claimed the life of a young and promising individual.
