The month-long celebration will feature various themed activities
Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has kicked off its celebration of Ghana Month with a series of activities aimed at fostering unity, cultural pride, and community engagement within the hospital.
Speaking at the launch on March 7, 2025, Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KBTH, emphasized the importance of participation, urging staff and the general public to contribute to the success of the celebrations.
“As we celebrate Ghana Month, it is also an opportunity for us to contribute our quota, so let us all contribute to make it a success,” he stated.
The Head of Public Relations at KBTH, Dr. Mustapha Salifu, highlighted that the hospital started celebrating Ghana Month last year and decided to continue due to the positive response it received.
“We started celebrating Ghana Month last year, and we thought it was an opportunity to come together to do this. So, this week, we are doing ‘Rep Your Korle Bu Colours’,” he said.
The month-long celebration will feature various themed activities, including:
Rep your region – Staff will wear traditional attires representing their regions.
Rep your jersey – A sports-themed day where staff wear jerseys of their favorite teams.
Rep your school – An exciting event where staff wear their former school uniforms, an activity that was a hit last year.
Food and culture exhibitions – A showcase of Ghanaian cuisine and heritage.
Dr. Salifu noted that the “Rep Your School” initiative last year brought joy to both staff and patients, creating a lively atmosphere in the hospital.
“Patients were happy seeing doctors and nurses wearing their school uniforms. They were so excited that, for a moment, they forgot about their sickness and celebrated with us,” he said.
As part of the celebrations, Dr. Salifu called for increased support for locally manufactured products, particularly herbal medicines.
He emphasized the need to embrace and promote Ghanaian-made goods to boost local industries.
