In a heartwarming display of integrity, a Ghanaian taxi driver has gained widespread praise after returning GH₵50,000 that a passenger accidentally left in his car. The incident, which occurred in Accra, has sparked online discussions about honesty and good character.
According to reports, the passenger, a trader named Yaw Boadu, boarded the taxi from Madina Market to his home in Adenta. In a rush, he forgot a black bag containing the huge sum of money in the backseat.
The driver, identified as Kojo Amankwah, only noticed the bag after dropping off another passenger. Instead of keeping the money, he drove straight to the police station to report the incident.
“I know how hard people work for their money,” Amankwah told reporters. “I would not have peace if I kept it.”
Hours later, Boadu arrived at the police station, visibly distressed. When he saw his money intact, he knelt down and thanked the driver. In appreciation, he rewarded Amankwah with GH₵5,000 and promised to support his children’s education.
The story has since gone viral, with social media users hailing the driver as a hero. Many are calling for taxi unions to recognize and reward such acts of honesty.
