Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin
The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain steadfast despite their defeat in the December 7 elections.
In a video shared on his Facebook page on Friday, March 7, 2025, he emphasized the need for unity, hard work, and the internal resolution of grievances.
“Members, I know that we are all heartbroken. We are disappointed, we are all depressed, and we are not happy about the outcome of the elections. That is to be expected.
“Because when you go into an election and you don’t win, it comes with a lot of disappointment. But that was yesterday. Today is another day,” he stated.
The Member of Parliament for Effutu appealed to party members to move past their grievances and focus on rebuilding the party.
“The way to prepare for the future is through hard work, forgiveness, and a collective determination to sacrifice for the good of the party. Calling each other names and making all sorts of statements on radio, social media, and TV is not the way to go. I plead with all of us, let’s move on,” he added.
The party lost both the presidential and parliamentary elections by a landslide, losing over 40 parliamentary seats, including several in its stronghold.
