Veep Opoku-Agyemang bids farewell to Namibian leader

Accra, March 4, GNA – Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Saturday joined the Government and people of Namibia to bid farewell to the country’s founding President, Dr Sam Shafishuna Nujoma.  

The state funeral of Dr Nujoma took place in the capital city, Widhoek, Namibia.  

He died on 11 February, 2025, aged 95, in Windhoek, Namibia.  

Prof Opoku-Agyemang eulogised the late Namibian leader, saying Dr Nujoma’s passing was a great loss not only to Namibia, but to the entire African continent.  

 Dr Nujoma was a visionary leader whose unwavering dedication to Namibia’s independence and development remained an inspiration, she said.  

“Dr Nujoma’s legacy of resilience, patriotism, and Pan-Africanism will continue to guide generations,” a statement from the office of the Vice President, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, quoted Prof. Opoku-Agyeman as saying.  

On behalf of the Government and People of Ghana, she extended her deepest condolences to the Family of Dr Nujoma, the Government, and the people of Namibia.
