Social media users have mocked former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after the complete destruction of his statue for the second time.
The statue, located outside the Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital in Sekondi, was established in the final days of the Akufo-Addo government. It was unveiled by the President himeslf and was wildly condemned by Ghanaians.
Since its erection, it has faced vandalism several times. It was previously destroyed and repaired and has now been destroyed once more.
A video of the statue popped up on social media, showing its current state. Unknown vandals had completely wrecked the statue, making it completely unrecognizable and in an even worse state after its previous destruction, when it was decapitated.
The video sparked wild social media reactions, with Ghanaians mocking Akufo-Addo. Commenters said no matter how many times the statue is repaired, it would be destroyed an equal number of times.
“Until they use vibranium to build that statue, ego down,” one user said.
Another wrote: “Can’t they just give up on this. SMH. Squad say they don’t want yet you are forcing it down their throats.”
