Renowned Ghanaian legal practitioner and journalist, Samson Lardi Anyenini, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ensure that controversial broadcaster Kevin Taylor is held accountable for his alleged misconduct if he returns to Ghana.
Speaking on the issue, Anyenini strongly condemned the misuse of the internet by individuals who engage in what he described as reckless broadcasting. He criticized those who spread falsehoods and hurl insults under the guise of journalism, insisting that such behavior should not be tolerated.
“He shouldn’t be among those cowards hiding behind the internet and committing criminal acts in the name of broadcasting. Every day, it’s insults first, and they churn out falsehoods without being held accountable. This country can do better than that,” Anyenini stated. He emphasized that a bench warrant issued by Justice K. Baffour against Kevin Taylor must be enforced, adding that the NDC would be failing the nation if they allowed him to return without facing legal consequences.
“The NDC will do a disservice to this country if Kevin Taylor steps foot in Ghana and is allowed to go free without executing the bench warrant against him,” he said. Anyenini further highlighted Taylor’s history of defamation cases, noting that legal practitioner Ace Ankomah and politician Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko had successfully sued him, yet he continues to operate freely from abroad.
“He has defamed a lot of people and they’ve gone to court and have gotten judgment. Ace Ankomah, Gabby Otchere-Darko, all of them have gotten judgment, but because he thinks he is out of the country he can get away with it. That is not right,” he asserted. He concluded by urging authorities to take decisive action, stressing the importance of justice and accountability in Ghana’s legal and media landscape.
