The Global Governing Council of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network has appointed seasoned finance expert, Cecilia Esaete, as the National Coordinator for it’s Uganda Chapter.
Her appointment, which is for a period of two years and renewable upon the completion of a tenure, comes on the back of similar appointments by the Council across its Chapters globally.
She is expected to among other things, lead the Network at the national level and serve as the organization’s main representative in the country.
As part of her key responsibilities, she is expected to steer the affairs of the Network with supervision from the Global Secretariat; serve as the link between the Global Secretariat and Chapter members; and liaise with research officers at the secretariat to supervise individual members’ projects.
She will also act as chairperson at all meetings of the Executive Committee and at all other meetings of the Chapter; lead recruitment of new members for the Network in the country; and shall be responsible for the coordination of delegates to the Annual Convocation of the Young African Women Congress and other sub-regional congresses
Additionally, she will be expected to prepare and present solidarity message on behalf of the chapter at convocations; be responsible for the implementation of the Network’s programmes and projects in the country and lead sponsorship at the Chapter level.
Profile
Cecilia Esaete is an experienced finance professional with over 10 years progressive experience within the financial services sector in Sales, Marketing, Risk and PortfolioManagement with Stanbic Bank, Uganda, and Platinum Credit.
She currently serves as an audit member under Justice Law and Order Sector by the Ministry of Finance, Planning andEconomic Development of the Republic of Uganda.
Prior to her current appointment, she served as a Relationship Manager – Affluent Banking, in Stanbic Bank, Uganda, and managed a portfolio of 367 active clients with a balance sheet of UGX 6.4 billion.
Cecilia built a distinguished career in Commercial Banking,specializing in Business Development; Risk and PortfolioManagement; Branch Operations Management; Trade Finance Service and Customer Relationship Management; and Sales and Marketing.
Other areas include Strategic Planning and Policy Development; Risk Management and Compliance; Development and Enforcement of Customer ServiceStandards and Financial Management and Administration.
Cecilia’s academic journey began at the prestigious Makerere University in Uganda where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Social Administration.
She later got a professional certificate in Administrative Law by Law Development Centre Kampala and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the same university.
Beyond her professional achievements, Cecilia is a great advocate of the political economy development in conflict and post-conflict contexts, particularly in creating enabling conditions that promote youth and women’s livelihoods and access to decent work and employment.
Her experience in the humanitarian sector has focused on the implementation of economic development projects, including creating access for youth and women to the global financial network through innovative digital financial services solutions.
