When NPP Was Borrowing You Made Your Head Like Coconut and Kept Quiet – Ghanaians Fire NPP MP Stephen Amoah over Complaints NDC Gov’t Borrowing Too Much

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Honourable Stephen Amoah, has come under fire from Ghanaians on social media after attacking the new NDC government.

In a speech reacting to the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), Amoah slammed the NDC government for their governance so far. According to him, the only thing the new government has done since coming into power is borrow the country into oblivion.

He said in the few weeks since Mahama took office, the government has borrowed Ghc 59bn. He said, apart from borrowing, the NDC has no solutions to offer the Ghanaian people.

His comments triggered angry netizens to come after him and drag him for being a hypocrite. The previous NPP government, led by Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Ken Ofori-Atta, borrowed until they destroyed Ghana’s debt rating. Things became so bad they had to set up a debt exchange program that people complain about to this day.

To netizens, in light of this, Stephen Amoah has no standing to complain about the NDC borrowing.

“Mahama need to borrow more money self.. Aboabiba when Npp was borrowing money left, right, center.. you made your head like coconut 🥥 and kept quiet.. now you’re shouting.. just sit down,” one netizen wrote.

Another humorously added: “He’s my uncle, wegyimi ruff,”
